Dear Swing City Patrons,
Sax Gordon was fantastic last week, again with a great
crowd. The switch to just Saturdays has really helped
us make Swing City much more consistent, which as organizers--believe
us--is HUGE! Thanks to all for your continued and/or
renewed support. Also, look for Sax Gordon again later
Just a heads up for April 12: we will be featuring
a new band, "Barry Fleischer and his Radio Swing
Orchestra." Some of the musicians in this band
are part of a band which we used to get often which
was excellent musically, except the music selections
were just not a good fit for Swing City's hard core
dancers. These guys had put together a swing band some
time ago which gigs here and there at various dances
outside of the Boston area, and when we announced changes
for 2014 they asked us if we could give them a try.
We have high expecations for a great night, and they
promise they will deliver. Please mark your calendars!
Nutile Big Band" this Saturday
Tom Nutile has put on some great shows for us since
he started gigging at Swing City, with sets of highly
dancable classic big band swing. We hope to see you
this Saturday for more of that!
And as usual, Mike's "famous" free, fresh,
hot popcorn and cotton candy. Check it out.
lessons at Swing City
New to Swing Dancing or already an expert? No worries,
we've got something for everyone!
Join us for a beginner swing lesson, or if you're
a more experienced dancer, we offer a concurrent intermediate
class. Classes begin at 8pm promptly, so be sure to
arruve a few minutes early.
Classes have been HUGE lately, so be sure to come for
those. Beginner and intermediate levels are concurrent
so most of our regular dancers will be able to take
a non-beginner class with our rotation of some
of Boston's top dance instructors, yet still bring your
friends who might be more comfortable at a the intro
level. Moreover, the classes are a GREAT way to meet
people if you're new to the scene, single, or just feeling
The intro class will be single step East Coast, while
the intermediate class generally assumes you can dance
a triple step and are comfortable with a variety of
basic moves. The intermediate class is different each
week, generally Charleston. We sometimes features guest
If either lesson is too hard or simple for you, one
can just switch to the other one as needed.
