Friday, May 16: The Love Dogs
plus Instructors/DJs Tony & Aurelie

First some news:
1) We're opening our West Coast Room on May 30 with Paolo Piselli! *pending final approvals. Monthly schedule TBA, including two-step, balboa, and more.
2) Intermediate workshops will be starting in June weekly from 7:30-9, featuring a variety of genres and renowned instructor/personalities. Stay tuned!

Once again, another superb dance last week at Swing City, with about 150+ in the house for "Bombay Jim"!

This Friday we have the ever popular "Love Dogs" live, plus Tony & Aurelie return again to round out the night with a great lesson and entertainment. So join us for another fun night of dancing, socializing, music, and drinks!

Swing City friends, this week is SUPER IMPORTANT! As many know, during Swing City's brief hiatus, not one, but two other swing dances sprouted up on Friday nights, and this will be the first night when all three are open head-to-head. This has generated all manners of disconsternation in the swing dance community, believe me! This week, we really would like to see everyone, especially those that haven't made it back yet. We've made lots of improvements based on tons of suggestions from all corners of the community, and the feedback I get from people about the new Swing City, especially from those that stopped going to Newton for various reasons, has been nothing but thumbs up. So call your friends and join us if you've been holding out. We'd love to see you!

NOTES FOR THIS WEEK:

  1. Once again it looks like a cooler rainy evening this Friday, perfect for dancing the night away! But... PLEASE check your coats. Having 200+ semi-soggy coats in a jumble just doesn't make the Swing City Ballroom very pleasant. Also, tidiness aside, we ask that you do this in general for fire safety and security reasons. It's only $1 for a hanger and feel free to double up. Coat check is on the right as you come in, before the reg. table.
  2. We have stocked the bar with some more variety this week, including Snapple, Juice, Red Bull, some premium beer, etc, base on our straw poll on the home page about what we should provide, so if you have a second, please surf over and cast your vote. As always, please support the bar! (see note below)
  3. We also are running our more extensive patron satisfaction survey--please chime in on that as well. Results so far can be viewed from the home page. Take the survey »

Lesson Details: The beginner lesson starts at "7:30ish", and the last 15 min. or so will feature an advanced move.

More Highlights:

  • Doors open at 7:30, dancing until 1am
  • FULL BAR (valid 21+ ID to drink)
  • Free parking
  • Great dance floor, fabulous sound, and superb ambiance in the "Swing City Ballroom"

Appeal to our Patrons: Please support the bar! As Swing dancers we all know we're not a "drinking crowd", but the host venue really does depend on beverage sales to keep the rent affordable. We are privileged to have this nice hall, so if you have the means, please try to patronize the bar with a modest amount of about $5 in food & beverage purchases. The hall is run by volunteers and 100% of the bar's profit goes to support the church's expenses in having us there.

What people are saying:
"It was one of the best swing dances I have attended in well over a year (and I dance several times a week)."

"Nice people all w/good intentions. From the person at door to anyone I would ask questions; all have positive, upbeat(no pun intended) attitudes. And this love of Swing Dancing is obvious by all assistance kindly offered and rendered. Five Stars."
