Swinging Sixes
Adam LaMontagne and Nicole
Six count moves are an intrinsic part of lindy hop; come see how to give new life and energy to some old favorites!

Shim Sham
Alex & Megan
The Shim Sham, originally choreographed by Leonard Reed, is a jazz line dance which incorporates common solo jazz steps. Commonly danced by lindy hoppers, it recalls the authentic roots of jazz dance of the 1930s.

Never danced Swing before? Tony and Aurelie start at the beginning and take you through what you'll need to get started, with plenty of humor and fun mixed in!

Beginner Charleston
Todd & Beth
This class assumes you have some experience dancing various forms of swing and are interested in learning about the classic Charleston style.

 

Tickets

$20 advance general admission, includes FREE workshops

$20 at the door plus $5 for workshops.

$5 discount with current, valid student ID.

Parking

Swing City has a huge free parking lot adjacent to the building. Look for the Swing City Parking sign. The lot is to the left of the building when facing the main entrance.

Please do not park in the Somerville City Club member's parking lot to the right of the main entrance.

Directions

Swing City is easily accessible by car (just off the highway), subway ("Sullivan Square" on the Orange Line--three blocks), and ample bus access.

Note on GPS: Please do not rely on GPS as your main guidance to get to the City Club! Depending on where you're coming from, people report having been taked on major scenic tours of the Cambridge/Somerville suburbs. The highway routes on our directions page are the fastest and easiest! Use your GPS as a backup.
