Dear Swing City Patrons!
Summer hiatus is over! Let's get back to dancing! Hopefully
everyone enjoyed the little break.
This
Friday at the Swing City / Huron:
"Fat City Band"
Once again and by popular demand, we're bring the Fat
City Band back, this week to Huron Ave. As some of you
may know, we discovered thiem and early this year and
they've been a Boston favorite ever since. See you there!
Next week we've got "Rockin' George Leh"
at the City Club. Unfortunately, "City Rhythm Orchestra"
from Philadelphia cancelled their New England tour,
so the week after will be rebooked (also at Huron Ave),
and in three weeks the Gas House Gorillas make a special
New England appearance at Huron Ave as well.
Contest: we're trying to figure out what to
name the two different events. e.g. Swing City "Uptown/Downtown",
"Somerville/Cambridge", "Classic",
etc. We want to distinguish the venues so that people
don't get too confused. Send me your ideas and if we
use them we'll comp you some tickets.
Beginner
and Intermediate Swing Dance lessons at Swing City
Mike
Jonas will be teaching the intermediate Swing lesson
this week and DJ'ing the breaks. Also, Karen Leeds returns
to teach the beginner class. Both are at 7:45. Classes
have been HUGE lately, so be sure to come for those.
Beginner and intermediate levels are concurrent, so
you can find a class that suits you and still bring
your friends who might be at a different level. Plus,
the classes are a GREAT way to meet people if you're
new to the scene.

- Easy "T" Access (City Club only)
7:30pm: Beginner and Intermediate
Swing Dance Lessons, no partner necessary.
9:00pm: Band goes on (DJ in the breaks)
until ~12:00am or when people leave
The great thing about the new intermediate lessons
program is that the bulk of our regular dancers will
be able to take a non-beginner class with our
rotation of Boston's top dance instructors, while still
being able to bring beginner friends for the intro lesson.
The intro class will be single step East Coast, while
the intermediate class will be taught in triple-step
and sometimes will include some Lindy and more. The
intermediate class will be different each week. Furthermore,
if either lesson is too hard or simple for you, one
can just switch to the other one as needed.
So please join us for lessons, a night of rich live
music, dancing, affordable cocktails (yes, $4!), lots
of cool fun people of all ages, and some great exercise.
Bottom line, a great night out for only $15 ($10 with
college ID), the cheapest cocktails in town, and a super
