Dear Swing City Patrons!
Thanks to all that made out to the City Club after
last week's last minute venue change. It was a pretty
full house, and definitely the night was swinging! Hopefully
not too many people missed out on a good time.
This
Friday at the Swing City / Huron:
"Rockin' George Leh"
"THE MAN" Since 1963 Blues Legend Rockin'
George has been a fixture of the New England and Washington
D.C. area music scenes. Rockin' George was a member
of The J. Geils Blues Band (1967), Swallow (1968-1973),
Skyhook (1973-1975), Powerhouse (1975-1977), and The
Thrillers (1978-1981). From 1982-1983 Rockin' George
appeared at Sandy's Jazz Revival in Beverly, MA as the
club's opening act (keyboard and vocals). From 1983
to 2003 Rockin' George worked with the Rockin' Shoes
performing throughtout New England.
Rockin' George is presently backed by a five piece
band. Rockin' George also appears on some Sunday evenings
at the Grogg in Newburyport, MA with his good friend
Parker Wheeler (Swallow). Rockin' George brings his
own unique style to an eclectic mix of classic blues,
soulful R&B, and spine tingling rock n' roll. A
singer of power and emotion, his ability to inspire
an audience is legendary. Rockin' George has shared
the stage with many great artists over the years including:

and Ronnie Earl.
Beginner
and Intermediate Swing Dance lessons at Swing City
Special
Guest Instructor Nancy Murphy of RugCutters will be
teaching the intermediate Swing lesson this week. Also,
Karen Leeds returns to teach the beginner class. Both
are at 7:45. Classes have been HUGE lately, so be sure
to come for those. Beginner and intermediate levels
are concurrent, so you can find a class that suits you
and still bring your friends who might be at a different
level. Plus, the classes are a GREAT way to meet people
if you're new to the scene.
Swing City at the City Club, the best weekly Swingin'
venue in town!
- Tons of free parking
- Ice Cold Air Conditioning
- Full Bar, ~$4 cocktails (City Club only)
- Great Floor (one patron was giddy with excitement
last week! thx)
- Easy "T" Access (City Club only)
7:30pm: Beginner and Intermediate
Swing Dance Lessons, no partner necessary.
9:00pm: Band goes on (DJ in the breaks)
until ~12:00am or when people leave
The great thing about the new intermediate lessons
program is that the bulk of our regular dancers will
be able to take a non-beginner class with our
rotation of Boston's top dance instructors, while still
being able to bring beginner friends for the intro lesson.
The intro class will be single step East Coast, while
the intermediate class will be taught in triple-step
and sometimes will include some Lindy and more. The
intermediate class will be different each week. Furthermore,
if either lesson is too hard or simple for you, one
can just switch to the other one as needed.
So please join us for lessons, a night of rich live
music, dancing, affordable cocktails (yes, $4!), lots
of cool fun people of all ages, and some great exercise.
Bottom line, a great night out for only $15 ($10 with
college ID), the cheapest cocktails in town, and a super
vibe! Read, "Boston's official Cheap Date."
